Family Fall Fifteen

My hubby ended this family photo session by saying: "Well, I think that was the least painful photo shoot we have ever done together."

Yes.
It's true.

Taking your own family photos can be challenging.  But, what could be more rewarding than capturing your own children and spouse experiencing authentic joy?

Nothing.

It only happens a couple of times per year, but how I love family photo shoots!

Bruce, Daryl, & Lilah

“However many years she lived, Mary always felt that 'she should never forget that first morning when her garden began to grow'.”

This family session truly has a magical quality to it.  Whether created by the dancing light of the setting sun or by the sweet playfulness of {now almost 2 year old} Lilah is yet to be decided.  It has been a real privilege watching this family grow ... through their pregnancy, Lilah's birth, Lilah's first birthday, and now a loving family session just before she turns two.  I am so thankful to the opportunity to capture these moments in time ~ and also to call these clients my friends.

Enjoy!

Spring Family Photos

It's that time of year again ... Spring is in the air ... and it is both of my kiddos' birthdays.  I am certainly having a hard time believing it -- but Oliver is now three years old, and Jackson turned five today.  Five!  Five is a difficult age for Mommy to come to terms with.  Oh, how I love them!

Per tradition, last week I took the opportunity to shoot some family photos, something I typically do twice a year.  I can really see more maturity {or maybe it was the bribing?!?} in my boys.  This year's family session was certainly their most successful as far as following directions, looking at the camera, and simply cooperating are concerned.  I was SO proud of my two fellas ... and super pleased to see the final edited images.

Here are a few of my favorites!

{for those of you who know my Ollie - this is totally "him," isn't it?}

My Two Valentines

Those of you who know me understand that I love outdoor/natural light photography INFINITELY more than studio photography.  So, it's a true rarity that I set up my studio unless specifically requested by a client.  Well, something special must have been in the air a couple of days ago!  Out of the blue, I decided to erect my studio and capture a few "Valentine's Day" inspired photos of my boys, Jackson & Oliver.  Using a tiny {meant for newborns} backdrop and afternoon window light, I snapped a few "keepers" of two of my life's biggest little loves.

Enjoy.
